What is RILa

We are an environmental protection organization.

We conduct surveys and research for environmental conservation and events related to the environment to create an environment that can ensure the conservation of biodiversity, and we are also engaged in activities related to the development of children and community development.

It is an NPO corporation that contributes to sustainable town development that can coexist with various creatures living in the area while considering the environment.

R, I, La are R adio i sotope  Abbreviation for la boratory, meaning "Radiation Isotope Research Institute".

Activity history

・ Air dose measurement of elementary and junior high schools, kindergartens, nursery schools, children's facilities, riverbed parks around children's parks, etc.

・ Radionuclide detection inspection and air dose measurement of the soil of the Karabori River flowing through Higashiyamato city

・ Investigation of the relationship between the inflow of rainwater in urban areas and the radioactive contamination of riverbeds in the Tama River and its tributaries

・ Investigation of radionuclides in running water and investigation of radioactive contamination of living organisms (fish and plants)

・ Capture the goby that lives in the Edogawa floodway at the back of Tokyo Bay and investigate the content of radionuclides.

・ Capture of freshwater clams in the estuary of the Tama River and capture of freshwater clams in the estuary of the Tama River

・ May 2013 Conducted a radioactivity survey of freshwater clams at the mouth of the Tama River. Interview from Korean KGB TV for this survey

・ Implemented a one-year Tokyo Bay Oku Seafood Radioactivity Project from April 2015 to March 2016

・ Conducted soil surveys on the Edo River estuary estuary tidal flat, Sanbanze offshore tidal flat, Tamagawa estuary tidal flat, Banshu tidal flat, and Sanmaisu west tidal flat.

・ A microplastic extraction test in the digestive organs was conducted using Japanese whiting captured off Kisarazu as a sample.

・ Started local cat protection activities in Higashiyamato City and its surrounding areas in 2016

・ Started coexistence activities with wild animals and conservation of satoyama in the Sayama Hills from 2017

・ From 2015 to 2020, with the support of Patagonia, Tokyu Foundation for Better Environment, etc., in collaboration with the Tama Hydrangea Association, at 15 fixed-point observation points in the entire area from the headwaters of the Tama River, Ichinose River, to the estuary tidal flats of Kawasaki. Investigation of the content of radioactive nuclei in running water using linen cloth

・ From 2019 to the present, we conducted a wildlife survey using a trail camera in Onakage Satoyama, Hidaka City.

Shooting mammals such as Japanese raccoon dogs, Japanese red foxes, badgers, wild rabbits, raccoon dogs, palm civets, and red foxes, and birds such as pale thrush, pheasant, kojukei, copper pheasant, pale thrush, brown-headed thrush, red fox, tiger fox, foxtail, and quail.

Currently, a children's channel has been set up on YouTube for the videos taken, and the videos are distributed.

Microplastic survey (to Ryukokudani)

I am doing maintenance on the trail camera.

In 2018, under the guidance of Professor Takada of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, started research on microplastics.

In 2018, a preliminary survey will be conducted using white sardines off the coast of Kisarazu in Tokyo Bay and Oikawa in the middle reaches of the Tama River (near Tama Ohashi), and the digestive organs of the samples will be removed and immersed in a 1 mol sodium hydroxide aqueous solution. Succeeded in an experiment to dissolve the protein content of the digestive organs and remove microplastics, and conducted a full-scale investigation from the following year.

・ Microplastic pollution survey using Oikawa as a marker in the downstream area of the water retreatment center water distribution port in the middle reaches of the Tama River.

・ A microplastic pollution survey was conducted using Oikawa as a marker in the downstream area of the water retreatment center water distribution center in the middle reaches of the Tama River. Investigate at each point of the center. Japan's first survey announcement in the high school biology club

・ Microplastic pollution survey using mountain stream fish such as char, yamame trout, and amago as markers in the entire Taba River system at the headwaters of the Tama River with the full cooperation of the Tabayama Fisheries Cooperative.

・ The survey locations are near the Tamba River main stream Fudo Waterfall, near the Sanjo River, near the Ushiroyama River No. 1 Dam, near the Yanagisawa River Ochiai Campground, upstream from the encounter with the Yanagisawa River on the Takahashi River, near the Ichinose River Main Stream, near the Ichinose Nakagawa Dam, and near the Ichinose Nakagawa Dam. Microplastics are detected from specimens captured in all places such as the upstream area, near the entrance of the Ichinose Nisshin River Kasatoriyama mountain trail. It turned out that all the samples were contaminated, including the mountain stream fish in the headwaters where there are no settlements upstream.

・ Former microplastic pollution in the presence of Hidaka City Council members at the request of Hidaka City citizens and Saitama Nishi Fisheries Cooperative in the upstream area of the drinking water intake near Kinchakuda, Hidaka City, which is the upper reaches of the Koma River, which is the Arakawa River system. Conducted a survey. Detects microplastics from all captured Oikawa, Dace, and Kawamutu specimens, etc.

・ In order to create a true forest, the correct knowledge and enlightenment activities of the pollinator "Japanese honeybee" and the large trees required for the Japanese honeybee's nest are decreasing, so a nest box will be installed in the forest.

・ We are planning an event to think about environmental conservation with local children and the production of "insect inn" as a nest of "flower bees" which are pollinators other than Japanese honeybees.
